Seattle to S.F.

We have done almost 1800 miles in the past week. Trekking across Eastern Washington Spokane and Yakima, then taking us from a very rainy  Seattle (we left at the right time), down to PDX,  up the windy hills and coastal flats of Arcata Ca. We lost our breaks in our van there but made the best of metal grinding on metal and made the show.  Next to the Governators mansion ( Capitol building) where we witnessed a buddhist, all women, drum troop perform on the front steps.  It was starting to get very intense until  we were finally tracked down by the Seattle rain again.  Sacramento was surprised to say the least. We walked in to an old bar and announced casually to the bartender that it was raining a bit and the entire bar cleared as people hit the street to witness what looked like the first precipitation they had seen in 100 years. While they were gone, we made short work of our drinks and went to the venue  to play the show. The stages seem to be built for more of a country and western sort of vibe but we made the best of it.  Music for Animals, who are playing with us for the CA run, were great as always. Sexy, smooth sounds and incredible harmonies. Very nice boys I might add  as well. They had been up  all night  in Arcata……eating Elk and Smoking the finest from Humbolt. Apparently, the guitarist had broken his back while jumping on a trampoline the night before. That is nothing for “The Animals”, they propped him up and played perfectly!!

We stayed till after 2 am and tried to leave but only made it 3 miles before we stopped for the night in West Sac.  Amazing tacos this morning. Bob had 4 of the Lengua tacos as per usual. He loves the feel of guts in his guts. The 86 mile to S.F. took 3 hours due to the traffic from the bluegrass festival and a 49s game, or so the 66 year old toll booth attendant told me. Fast forward to tonight at  The Bottom of the Hill and we will be on in 6 hours!
